It is reported that the new generation of the world's largest container ship, the Mediterranean Gulson, berthes at Tianjin Port. The Marine Big Mac, launched on July 4, departed from Tianjin after completing more than 3,000 standard boxes at the Pacific International Container Terminal of Tianjin Port.
According to the records, "Mediterranean Gulson" is the first of six 23,000 TEU-class ships ordered by Mediterranean Shipping from Samsung Heavy Industry in September 2017. The ship is 400 metres long, 62 metres wide and 33.2 metres high. It can carry 23756 20-foot containers, draft 8.5 metres, carry 197500 tons, total tonnage 210,000 tons, and fly the Panamanian flag. The ship is equipped with G95ME-C9.5 super-powered main engine launched by German MAN Diesel & Turbo Company. Its optimum design can reduce fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions. Foreign media also reported that the desulfurization tower will be installed on the Mediterranean Gulsson ship and its 23 000 + large ships built in the same batch.
The container ship has 24 bay, 24 row, 12 tiers above and below the hatch cover, a total of 24 tiers. That is to say, there are 24 rows from head to stern, 24 rows in each row, 12 floors above and below the hatch cover. This arrangement enables the ship to have about 1500 more container spaces than other super-large container ships. The Mediterranean Gurson will carry out the route task code Silk/AE10. It will be linked to Qingdao Port, Ningbo Port, Shanghai Port, Yantian Port and other ports in China from Tianjin New Port, then to Europe via Singapore, and finally to Gdansk Port in Poland.
Tianjin Port is a world-class man-made deep-water port with a waterway depth of - 22 meters. 300,000 tons of ships and the world's largest container cargo ships can enter and leave the port freely all day.
